The beer at this joint wasn’t that good but the view was always worth the half-plat it cost to cover the tab.

Wyatt leaned his back against the bar as he usually did, the stool’s cracked vinyl cover creaking slightly as he settled in for another evening of playing guard dog. Not that he minded; this was his personal time, after all, and there was no place he would rather be than keeping an eye on his family.

For once, it was Jeb who had found a pretty young woman to dance with over to one side. His boy could take care of himself just fine so Wyatt let his gaze wander back to his main focus: Glitch and DG.

As was most often the case, the two of them were right in the middle of the dance floor, laughing and doing their awkward, flailing best to keep up with the pounding music. A place like this, Glitch’s zipper went completely unnoticed and that’s why they tended to come here more than any other club in Central. The crowd was there to have a good time, not looking for a fight.

“They’re yours, right?”

Wyatt glanced to his right to see a man about his age, not much of a looker but dressed like someone who made a fair amount of money. The nervous way he was glancing down at his drink and then back up toward the dance floor made all kinds of warning bells start to chime in Wyatt’s head. “Guess you could say that, yeah.”

The man gave a short, edgy giggle and cleared his throat. “How much for the pair?”

Pausing as if in thought, Wyatt decided this man was doing exactly what Wyatt suspected he was doing and decided to play along. Off-duty or not, he was still a cop. “Depends on what you want them for.”

“Nothing weird, I swear,” the guy assured him hastily. “They’re just – well, look at them! I mean, of course you know, they’re yours but still. You don’t see a beautiful couple like that too often. How’s two-fifty for the night?”

Wyatt itched to beat this man to a bloody pulp just knowing he had been checking out what was his with perverted fantasies in mind, but the desire to see justice served won out. He caught the eye of the bartender subtly, who gave a faint nod to let him know he had been listening. Bartenders in a clean joint like this always knew who the cops were. Wyatt sat up a bit and set his drink down, giving the solicitor a jerk of his head. “Three for the pair – they’d be insulted by anything less.”

“You got a deal,” Sleazy Guy grinned in victory and dug out his wallet. When he dropped the bills down into Wyatt’s palm, his expression morphed into shocked confusion when a pair of cuffs were slapped onto his wrist.

From there it was just a familiar routine. The barman called for a patrol car, Wyatt had the man cuffed and held chest-down against top of the bar and was reading the man his rights.

“Cain, are you arresting that man?” DG’s incredulous voice drifted over the music and Wyatt turned to see her and Glitch had spotted the activity.

“Unless the pair of you want to spend the night with him. He already gave me the money so it wouldn’t be a problem – “ He stopped the sarcastic reply when DG punched his arm. “You asked.”

Glitch sniffed delicately. “How much did you get for us?”

“One-fifty each.”

Glitch huffed, offended. “You should’ve held out for more, Wyatt. I’m hurt.”

“Oh, I’m sorry, I was thinking a negotiation might scare the pervert away and I kind of just wanted to arrest him for soliciting for prostitutes,” Wyatt shot back sweetly. “Next time I’ll just keep the cash and let the slimeball have at you. How’s that sound?”

DG snorted. “Come on, Glitch, let Mr. Cain have his fun.”

Wyatt rolled his eyes but was pleased to see a couple of patrol officers walking toward him ready to take the man off his hands. “You two just remember who has the keys to the car.” Wyatt handed one of the officers the money and told him to put the guy in a cell for the night, that Wyatt would deal with him in the morning.

Glitch waited until the cops led the man away before turning to Wyatt with a sultry grin. He leaned in close to Wyatt’s ear. “You may have the keys but we’ll see who gets to drive when we get home,” he breathed.

Suddenly very warm, Wyatt watched as ‘his’ couple made their way back to the dance floor. He was eternally grateful when a fresh, ice cold beer was pressed into his hand by the bartender.

I LOVE this. *dances!* Okay, triads are my favorite, Glitch/Cain is definitely an OTP, but... I guess I can see DG in there so long as it's a triad. Perfect characterisation, also - Cain would SO not dance and Glitch and DG SO would want to. Although, wait, Glitch danced well, right? Ah, well, no matter what he did where a waltz was concerned, all bets are off when you're on a packed floor doing free-form spaz. :)

Heee! Thank you, I'm so glad you liked it! I'm very much a strict Glitch/Cain OTP writer, but somehow this just reads with multiple possibilities.

Well, Glitch remembers being a great dancer - but I've always theorized that his balance and grace are impacted by the whole debraining thing. What with him tripping on stumps in the woods and going in circles. *pets him* But yes, I agree, he and DG would be all elbows and knees in a techno dance scene.

lol! Watchdog Cain is doing a fantastic job at protection detail, as usual. And Glitch's cavalier replies, as if nothing shocks him, and it's easy to be cavalier when he knows he's safe.

Heehee! It's what Cain does best. And after all they went through, I can't imagine Glitch would feel anything but absolutely safe when he's got Cain watching over him. :D
