Question about home-based business...

Does anyone know if you have to have a business license or permit to sell homemade jewelry on the internet, such as a home business using a webpage? (Not eBay or a third party - through a direct purchase system.) For example, if we have set up a "boutique" website for people to buy our crafty goods over the 'net, will we need a business license for that?

Online Sales License
I believe it varies state to state, and in some states, county to county. If I have time tonight, I'll see if I can find any relevant information. I briefly looked into this about 4 years ago (but not regarding selling jewelry) but not altogether seriously, only out of generic curiosity at the time, and in my area they did not require a license.

I'll get back to ya, but if you find something out in the meantime, let me know! :)

Looks like it can even vary from city to city, the City of Seattle requires a business license even if you're only selling on the internet. I would call your City Hall (whomever is in charge of business licenses) and ask them directly, and also ask if you require a county or state license. They "should" know.

I know that doesn't really help, but that's all I got! :)
