SG Con Burbank - Day 3

Our apologies to how random and disconnected the following sounds - we're recounting it as we remember it, which does not lead to fluidity.

Beginning - David Hewlett photo op. That man is the nicest gentleman. Usually photo ops are cattle calls (to steal someone else's analogy) but he took the time to make it a personable experience. We came through, he introduced himself to us, commented on Anndie's Invader Zim shirt, and when presented with an invitation for the LGM Con dinner, seemed very interesed in joining us. So we can hope!

Right after that, we went into the auditorium to listen to David and Kate speak. Surr received a gift when her Rodney video "Last Resort" was played as an introduction. The siblings were a hilarious comedy duo on stage, keeping the audience laughing. The usual practical joke question was asked, and David admits that he is horrible at them, usually allowing Joe to play them. He also says that whenever McKay is all sweaty and out of breath, that's because Joe has placed boulders in David's backpack. David enjoyed kissing Paul in Duet because of how uncomfortable the kissing made Paul. The response to the lemon in "The Pegasus Project" was all on the spot. Ben pulled the lemon out of his pocket to suprise David, who then had the blank face trying not to crack up. None of it was actually planned.

As Torri went on stage, Surr receieved a second gift when her Daniel Jackson/Elizabeth Weir vid "Trying to Find Atlantis" was shown. Torri brought her dog Sedwig with her, beautiful dog and very well behaved. She was asked what character she would want to be if she could be anyone else on the show; her response - she couldn't be Sheppard because her hands would be covered in gel, she couldn't be McKay because she couldn't talk that fast, memorize that much, and she couldn't be Teyla because she didn't want to do that many sit ups, so she wants to be Ronon. Also, Weir's dog can eat McKay's cat.

Jason..... oh Jason... Photo ops were first. Again, cattle call style and we were at the end so I believe Jason was a bit overwhelmed by the time we got in. That man is very very tall, and broad, so when arms go around him, hands are placed not around a waist. Hehehe

On stage, he was a blast. It was his first West Coast con, so he wasn't sure what to say and was begging for people to ask him questions. He didn't quite know what to do with himself on stage either, so he was very figity. Surr made Anndie go up and ask him how many knives he can hide in his hair. Answer - 36, one per dred. He claimed to have at least one in there at the moment, but didn't show us, even after we asked. He wishes that Teal'c would come to Atlantis so they could brawl. He enjoys taking a poop in other's trailers. His first few days on SGA, he pissed off David and now enjoys bugging/poking him. He and Paulie have a "special" friendship, but that story does not translate well into print. If Ronon could have a relationship with anyone on the show, Jason wishes that it was Weir, or perhaps McKay (they were said in similar tones). At the very end of his time, in response to a little girl asking him a question, he became a silver-backed gorilla and ran down the aisle towards the girl's mother.

There was, of course, much more - but as con goers know, most of it is in the moment, you really had to be there. Overall, the weekend was amazing, the people were amazing and we shall leave you with the best quote of the con:

"All my pictures came out drunk!"

ETA: Kate, David, Jane, Jason and Torri were also given invitations to LGM's actor dinner. Jason's reply when we told him about it, "I hope i get invited!" So, we'll have to keep in touch with him, he sounded interested! Torri's table was very busy (she was the first of the two in the line, so everyone was stopped at her first before Jason, so we skipped to him since we only had tickets for him this time) - so, we left her an invitation. We'll keep in touch with her, too.

Okay I'm gonna sleep. So-- public post, fair game? It's under a cut and attributed in my post. Poke me if you'd rather I didn't, I'll remove it when I wake up.

*poke* But this is just cuz I can, not cuz we want you to remove it. :)

Like you said, public post, fair game. It was funny enough that we thought it needed to be shared. So, share away :)

She and everyone else were just wonderful and so gracious to the fans. They answered all questions to the appropriate levels (even the stupid questions). It was a blast to be there.

This made me laugh out loud on a crabby monday. Thank you for the entire report, but seeing that made my day. Jason is such a GUY. I saw him at a Creaton Con and he was just utterly charming and silly and fun.

Oh believe me, the look on his face when he said that line was pure joy. He is 100% macho man up there, and really didn't know what to do with himself. But the audience loved him, and he totally played off of the audience. I can't wait to see him on stage again.

And now, I need to find a Ronon icon. Why do I have none?

Oh! At the risk of being a big ole self-pimping thing, I made some Ronon icons a while back and posted them here if you are interested.

He's truly a pretty, pretty man, isn't he?

::is embarrassed::

Uh, more Ronon icons here, too.

Mmmm, Ronon...

If I didn't have a room full of small children, I would so be drooling right now.
