Set during the series, episode 1, after the cliff dive.

Cain paddled miserably through the icy water toward the nearest scattering of rocks that called itself a river bank. He could see Raw already on firm ground, the large viewer shaking the water from his fur clothes like some kind of wild animal. DG was stumbling to her feet just behind him, wringing out her long, tangled hair with a grimace.

Off to Cain's left side, he could just see out of the corner of his eye the last of his odd ensemble lazily floating by on his back. Glitch raised a hand to point at something and nearly capsized himself. "Look, Cain! There's a dragonfly! I've never seen one with so much blue on its body."

"It's a bug, zipperhead," Cain growled, speeding up his strokes to get to dry land faster. "They're everywhere."

Glitch rolled slightly, listing just a bit to his left. "Technically, it's not a bug, it's an insect. Order Odonata. A bug is a specific species that belongs to the Order Hemiptera."

"You're just a font of information, Glitch," Cain rolled his eyes but was secretly amused by the way his swimming companion seemed to glow when he spoke of something scientific. Perhaps there was more to this headcase after all, he mused.

Hee! I loved the notion of Glitch just floating along calmly on his back.

*giggles* It's the only way I could picture him at that moment.

I think you got every one of them just right, how they reacted to the water! I love not only Glitch's behavior, but Cain's reaction. This was delightful.

Thank you! Glitch is always the optomist and Cain is his reluctant fanboy. :D

EEE! I love it! Glitch's juvenile enthusiasm and Cain's 'smack-in-the-face' reaction. So classic.
